Better Than Happy Podcast

If you’re only going to listen to one podcast, make it this one. Jody Moore is an amazing teacher.  She is a student of Brooke Castillo’s and she teaches the same concepts that Brooke teaches in a way that really resonates with me.  Her podcast has helped me to drastically reduce my anxiety, increase my happiness, and most importantly, to have SO much more compassion for myself and other people.

Listen to: The Human Void

Bittersweet by Susan Cain (Book)

Susan Cain has a unique way of seeing the world, and I love how her books challenge us to consider perspectives that go against everything our society teaches us. In a culture full of toxic positivity, Cain’s book is a breath of fresh air as it encourages us to embrace sorrow, melancholy, and longing. This book will help you to see suffering in an entirely new way.

Couples Coaching Podcast

Natalie Clay is Jody Moore’s sister and she’s also a certified coach through The Life Coach School. Natalie specializes in couples coaching. For most podcast episodes, she actually coaches a couple live! Hearing someone else gets coached really helps to bring these concepts to life and the impact of that is astounding. This podcast is FANTASTIC and everyone who’s in a relationship (or wants to be) needs to listen!

Listen to: The Obvious Solution that Doesn’t Exist

The Life Coach School Podcast

Brooke Castillo created the “self-coaching model” – a simple concept that shows you exactly how to identify how your thoughts are creating your emotions, the way you behave, and the results you’re getting in your life.  If you’ve tried therapy and you’ve been disappointed because you didn’t actually learn anything about HOW to change your thoughts, check out this podcast.

Listen to: Why You Aren’t Taking Action

Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff (Book)

For 34 years of my life, I was a perfectionist who beat myself up constantly. While I’m still working on the perfectionism, I’m happy to say that I hardly ever beat myself up anymore. I never would’ve imagined this was even possible, and I have Kristin Nef and Jody Moore (mentioned above) to thank for it. If you’re a self-critical person, read this book. It’ll completely change the way you see yourself and the way you see other people…which just might change your entire life.
