If you’re up for the 24-hour challenge, prepare yourself for a drink every hour for 24 hours straight!  Ms. Mae’s is located on the corner of Magazine Street and Napoleon Avenue. It is an area known for great restaurants, unique shopping, and exotic galleries. For under $10, a few drinks and a game of pool makes Ms. Mae’s a must visit in New Orleans.

 

3 – Oyster Happy Hour at Basin Seafood and Spirits

Oysters can be expensive. But when you know the secrets of the city, so many doors open up.

Basin Seafood has one of the best deals in the city. For just 50 cents per oysters, their seafood happy hour is one of the best finds. Monday nights, they offer a happy hour from 5-10pm at their Magazine Street location. Quality seafood, happy hour prices, what more can you ask for!

4 – The Sculpture Garden at City Park

So you love art and spending time outside.  Let me tell you about the The Bestoff Sculpture Garden in City Park.  This gem at the New Orleans Museum of Art is free and open to the public everyday of the week! The beautiful art garden is intertwined with fantastic outdoor trails that are lined with a variety of sculptures and fountains. Sometimes, there are even local plays that have performances in the garden!

5 – The Camellia Grill

Want a taste of a classic New Orleans diner?  Introducing Camellia Grill. Opened in 1946, this Nola institution serves classic meals dished out by servers in bow-ties. Their late night dining can be life-saving after a long night, or even the perfect brunch spot in the morning.

Delicious breakfast plates, savory milkshakes all for a reasonable price. Hot breakfasts under $10, and an atmosphere that is priceless. Check out the uptown location at Carrollton and Hampson.

 

6 – Hansen’s Sno-Bliz

Welcome to classic New Orleans.  Hansen’s is the oldest snowball stand in the city. It is one of the best spots to cool off on a hot summer day.

With flavors like Honey Lavender and Cream of Nectar, it’s no wonder their line is always around the corner. Prices for snowballs are just a few dollars. Well worth the deliciousness and the cool down.

And get this! The same location has been open for 77 years!

 

7 – Wednesday’s at the Square

Lafayette Square is located in the famed American Sector. It offers some of the best free music in the city. From March to June you can enjoy free concerts every Wednesday. The event benefits the Youth Leadership Council. It is a great way to kickback and relax mid-week.

Entrance is free, and inexpensive local food and spirits are available. The lineup will give you a true taste of New Orleans flavor!

 

8 – A Ride On The New Orleans Streetcar Line

Have you ever heard of St. Charles Avenue? It is one of the most beautiful streets in the entire city. It is nice to walk the streets, or even bike, but if you want to take in the entire street in a short amount of time, fork over the $1.25 it costs to ride the streetcar and enjoy.

The streetcar can take you all the way from the French Quarter to Audubon Park Uptown, along St. Charles Av. the entire time. You can even take it up to CIty Park to the museum and sculpture garden.

 

9 – A Night at The Blue Nile

Are you looking for to experience real New Orleans music?  Frenchmen Street for the night is your answer. The famed street is home to a variety of fantastic Jazz Clubs.

Depending on the night you visit, your best bet is to choose one club to spend the night as multiple clubs will come with multiple entrance fees. Entrance fees are typically no more than $10.

The Blue Nile keeps a steady flow of high energy local musicians that you might have never hear about.

 

10 – A Hand Grenade

If you are visiting New Orleans for the first time, walking down Bourbon Street is a must. On your walk, there will be jello shots, Huge A$$ Beers, and the famous Hand Grenade.
